On Saturday, September 22nd, 2018, the Functionize Health and Physical Therapy team will be participating in the 32nd annual Swim Across America (SAA) event.
Swim Across America is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that began in 1987 in Nantucket, MA. Since its inception, SAA has managed to raise over $75 million dollars for cancer research and treatment and hosts 18 open water events and over 100 pool swims annually. Our team will be participating in the Atlanta SAA event hosted at Lake Lanier Islands. As a participant, you have the option of completing a 1k, 3k, or 5k swim.
SAA—Atlanta funds benefit the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta . The leukemia research project, led by Dr. Douglas Graham and his clinical research team, supports children as well as adults by hosting Phase 1 leukemia clinical trials at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. As a team member you are committed to raising a minimum of $400 (you can certainly raise more). At registration you will be charged $75 registration fee. That registration fee is applied to your fundraising goal. For example, if your goal is $400, after you register you’ll only need to raise an additional $325.
Once you sign up you will receive an official Functionize Health and Physical Therapy Team training swim cap and a training program. The detailed training program includes 48 unique workouts that will prepare you for race day! The official training program kicks off July 1, 2018 and is 12 weeks long
